Speaker Spotlight: Christoph Trappe

A newspaper reporter by trade, Christoph left the newspaper industry in 2007 to research, write and produce training videos for the U.S. financial services industry. He then started a community news site and currently works as a communications executive in the nonprofit sector.

His career has focused on helping organizations tell their stories in authentic and meaningful ways. He uses and teaches brand and traditional journalism as well as content marketing techniques in the pursuit of great stories.

Until recently he helped United Way of East Central Iowa tell its stories in an authentic way through a multi-channel content delivery strategy that engages all of United Way’s key audiences. In April, he started at MedTouch where he works with hospitals across the U.S. on digital strategies.

He lives in Marion, Iowa, USA, with his wife and their daughter.

Christoph is presenting: Blogging from your mobile devices

1) Why do you like using WordPress?
Easy to use. The community is also very supportive.

2) Why did you decide to speak at WordCamp Ottawa?
I want to give back to the WordPress community and pitched this new session in the hopes of sharing some of my tips and tricks in content creation. Plus, I’ve never been to Canada. 🙂

3) What is the one thing you want people to walk away with from your talk?
Creating meaningful content is easy and can be done anywhere. Really, anywhere.

4) What is your favourite WordPress plugin or theme? Why?
I love the Editorial Calendar. It keeps me organized. I will talk about this in my talk, too.
